These Terms & Conditions govern your access to the Naturalis website, app, and related services. By using Naturalis, you agree to these terms.

1. Use of the Service

Naturalis includes this website, the iPhone app, and any related services we make available. You may use Naturalis only in compliance with applicable law and these terms. You are responsible for your use of the service and for any information or content you submit.

2. Eligibility

You must be legally capable of entering into a binding agreement to use Naturalis. If you use the service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.

3. App Access

App access may depend on App Store availability, device compatibility, account status, connectivity, pricing, and supported regions. Features may be modified, suspended, or withdrawn as the product evolves.

4. Accounts and Security

If Naturalis offers accounts, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for activities that occur under your account. You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

5. User Content

You retain ownership of content you submit to Naturalis, including photos, notes, observations, and related journal content. You grant us a limited license to host, process, transmit, reproduce, and display that content only as needed to operate, maintain, improve, and support the service.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit content and that your content does not violate law or third-party rights.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive purposes.
  • Attempt to interfere with, damage, or gain unauthorized access to the service.
  • Upload content that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights.
  • Use the service to harvest data, spam users, or abuse product access workflows.
  • Reverse engineer or misuse the service except where applicable law expressly permits it.

7. Intellectual Property

Naturalis, including its branding, design, software, and site content, is owned by its licensors or operators and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws, except for user content you own.

8. Availability and Changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of Naturalis at any time, with or without notice. This includes changing app features, species content, eligibility criteria, app access, or support for particular devices or operating system versions. We are not liable for modification, interruption, or discontinuation of the service.

9. Disclaimers

Naturalis is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. Species identifications, reference material, observation history, and generated content may be incomplete or inaccurate and should be independently evaluated where accuracy matters. Naturalis is not a substitute for professional scientific, medical, safety, conservation, or legal advice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Naturalis and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, goodwill, or business opportunities arising out of or related to your use of the service.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Naturalis and its operators from claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses arising from your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these terms.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to Naturalis at any time if we believe you have violated these terms or if continued access would pose risk to the service or others.

13. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the service operator is established, without regard to conflict of law principles, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date on this page. Your continued use of Naturalis after changes become effective means you accept the revised terms.
